HISTORY OF THE DONA NENÉM INSTITUTE

The Dona Neném Institute was created by the sons of Nem Campos, BRZ partners. Nor is she the daughter of Dona Neném, and the history of the Institute has a lot to do with her life and interest in the arts and culture in general.

“I pride myself on the sensitivity of my children's souls, they've always been like that since they were little. They helped me and still help a lot here in my hometown in the social and cultural programs that I started to promote since I moved in 2014. In fact, the idea of the Institute came from them, as a way to return the blessing of their work to society in which live. And my son Marcelo told me: 'No one like you, my mother, to carry out this social arm of our company'. I got emotional! And here I am today, with great joy in my heart, president of the institute where we can make all the difference to people in need” , highlights Nem.

She didn't even start as a stylist, opened a clothing company and was one of the creators of the National Fashion Calendar, through the group Mineiro de Moda, of which she was part. Its first social work was the Casa do Saber, designed to teach embroidery to women who could not work outside the home and needed this income. Project that soon expanded, with the participation of friends and family of these women. 100 women were trained, who were later employed by their company and friends' companies.

Later, he dedicated himself to the restoration of a historic house in the municipality of Oliveira, Minas Gerais. There, it also promoted exhibitions, events, plays and cultural parties. Her work drew attention and guaranteed her an invitation to become the city's Secretary of Culture. Thus, Nem Campos expanded its activities, bringing even bigger events to Oliveira. To this day, it is remembered for its cultural programs throughout the year, such as the Rosary party, Christmas, Holy Week and others.

The Institute has three pillars, a number that symbolizes Nem's three children and goes along with his entire trajectory with social work: Cultural, Social and Educational. And it is these three pillars that will drive a change of paradigm and life in needy communities in the cities where the Institute operates.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE INSTITUTO DONA NENÉM?

BRZ created the Institute to bring social, cultural and educational development to the cities in which it operates. The idea is to promote the integral development of subjects and communities, through sponsorship or incentive of projects. These must be related to one or more pillars of the Institute: Social, Cultural and Educational.

The aim is to bring about substantial change in underserved communities, to make people grow through art, education and culture. Change the lives of these people, going beyond actions with instantaneous impact.

"Culture rescues," says Nem Campos. "The social part is applied here, culture takes people off the street, gives support and meaning to the lives of the elderly and teaches them to do. A person goes a step higher when they develop cultural gifts, for example. Or a person who starts to understand music: develops logical reasoning and improves your understanding in other areas", emphasizes Nem.
